Safety Projects
Vectra undertakes a wide range of projects ranging from one-off small-scale nuclear safety consultancy projects, to large-scale multi-million pound integrated design and build projects.
Examples of our recent safety project experience include:
- Framework contract for safety consultancy to British Nuclear Group Sellafield Limited, principally involving operational plant support, Continued Operation Safety Reports (COSRs), Long Term Periodic Reviews (LTPRs) and general site clean-up and decommissioning activities
- Supporting Costain Nuclear in a major design and build project for the High Active Liquor Evaporation and Storage (HALES) facility at Sellafield, including the provision of all safety technical support and management of the safety case throughout the design lifecycle
- High profile support to HM Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (NII) in both nuclear and non-nuclear capacities, including the revision of NII’s Safety Assessment Principles (SAPs) and the development of metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of NII’s regulatory activities
- Safety technical support to BAE Systems for the Vanguard and Astute submarine design projects, including probabilistic and deterministic safety assessments.
- High level support to various nuclear site licensees, covering regulatory liaison, compliance and licensing issues
- Independent nuclear safety assessment (INSA) of a wide range of facility safety cases for various UK site licensees
- Safety case management and production for legacy pond waste retrievals activities, in support of British Nuclear Group Project Services
