Engineering Substantiation

A crucial component of the safety case is its underlying engineering substantiation.  Vectra’ Structural Integrity engineers have extensive experience of preparing the necessary engineering substantiation reports to satisfy regulatory requirements for a wide range of clients in the nuclear industry throughout the world.

Our assessments are based on the pragmatic use of finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and analytical methods as appropriate to demonstrate the required level of safety. 

We have particular experience in the following areas:

• Flask impact analysis
• Design of experimental loops (in-pile and out-of-pile)
• Waste repository design
• Remote active handling equipment
• High temperature fracture mechanics (CEGB R5 and R6)
• Pipewhip analysis (CEGB R3)
