Nuclear Safety Case Preperation

It is a legal requirement that a Safety Case is produced to support the operations and processes carried out at a nuclear installation, throughout the life cycle of the plant.  Vectra has extensive experience in providing a comprehensive safety case service for the production, presentation, implementation and ongoing support for safety case documentation, from initial plant design through operation and final decommissioning.

Vectra also provide representation for customers at Management and Nuclear Safety Committees, and with Regulators to facilitate the timely issue of all necessary approvals, agreements and license instruments for projects and operational facilities.
Vectra provides deterministic and probabilistic safety case documentation for all stages in the life of a nuclear facility, including:

  • Probabilistic and deterministic risk assessment;
  • Determination of individual and societal risk detriments;
  • Demonstration of compliance with risk criteria;
  • Development of radiological risk assessment criteria;
  • Specification of engineering and operational safety measures;
  • Consideration of long term safety issues arising from degradation of safety significant structures, systems and components;
  • Development of safety significant recommendations;
  • Development of robust safety case arguments;
  • ALARP assessments for routine operational dose uptake, societal risk and environmental impact.
  • Specification of operationally safe parameters for safety significant structure, systems and components;
  • Engineering and design substantiation for safety significant structures, systems and components;
  • Safety Integrity Level assessment and target setting;
