Risk Assessment

Hazard analysis/risk assessments techniques are a means of assessing potential hazards and determining their associated risk. The techniques can be employed to justify safe operation of a facility, to aid in the evaluation and optimisation of the performance of a particular safety system, or to compare the effectiveness of different maintenance regimes / equipment test frequencies.

Vectra is a recognised specialist in the area of Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment and is able to provide tailored solutions to complex risk assessment problems.  Vectra’s unique combination of experience in safety and in operations ensures that solutions are comprehensive, but still pragmatic and cost effective.  Particular services available for hazard analysis include:

  • Identification of individual bounding fault sequences;
  • Qualitative/deterministic safety assessment;
  • Probabilistic safety analysis (PSA);
  • Design Basis Analysis Assessment (DBAA);
  • Human factors assessment;
  • External hazards analysis;
  • Severe accident analysis;
  • Assessment of radiological consequences for routine operation and accident conditions;
  • Initiating event and fault frequency analysis using fault and event tree techniques;
  • Development of fault schedules and identification of engineered and administrative safeguards;
  • Derivation of safe operating envelope.
